The Algarve is one of Europe's favourite holiday destinations with over 200 kilometers of coastline, superb sandy beaches and an estimated 300 days of sunshine every year.

Easily reached from Quinta da Passarada are the resorts of Quinta da Lago, Vale do Lobo and Pinheiros Altos- all of which are well known for their golf courses. Some of the golf courses are on or near the famous red cliffs of the southern coast. In addition to golf, the resorts have tennis, numerous shops, restaurants and bars. Further along the coast there is horse riding and fishing as well as water parks for the children. There are nearby towns that have interesting markets along with some very good restaurants.

The Ria Formosa National Park, which is very close to the house, is a natural habitat for many different species of birds and other wildlife. It is a great area in which to go walking or cycling or to just enjoy the huge area of woodlands and lakes.
